Safety & Well-Being

Ensuring a Secure, Healthy, and Supportive Environment for Every Student

At Cedars High School, we don’t just talk about safety and well-being, we live it. It’s the heartbeat of everything we do. From the moment our children step through our doors, their safety, health, and happiness become our shared mission. We are deeply proud of the systems, people, and programs we’ve put in place to ensure that every student feels protected, supported, and valued.

Dedicated Professionals

Mrs. Ghiwa Rashwan – Certified Nurse:

Mrs. Ghiwa Rachwan, our full-time certified school nurse, is the heart of health and care at Cedars High School. With a watchful eye and a nurturing touch, she handles everything from daily school accidents to first aid emergencies with calm expertise. From bandaging scraped knees to managing more serious incidents, Mrs. Rachwan ensures that every child feels safe and cared for in moments of need.

She maintains detailed medical files for every student, keeping track of allergies, medications, and individual health needs. Her open communication with parents ensures that families are always informed and involved in their child’s well-being. Whether it’s a quick check-up or a more complex health concern, Mrs. Rachwan’s dedication and compassion place her at the very heart of our children’s safety and care.

Miss Lama Hindi – Child Protection Officer & Certified School Psychologist:

At Cedars High School, we are deeply committed to the principles outlined in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), particularly Article 19, which emphasizes the right of every child to be protected from harm and to grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. Guided by these principles, Miss Lama Hindi leads our efforts to ensure that every aspect of our school, from the physical environment to emotional support, reflects the highest standards of child protection and well-being.

Miss Lama’s work includes:

  • Attending to students’ emotional and psychological needs, providing a safe space for them to express themselves and offering guidance to help them navigate challenges.
  • Developing and implementing emergency protocols and evacuation plans to ensure preparedness for any situation.
  • Regularly evaluating the school environment to eliminate hazards and create a physically safe space for learning.
  • Collaborating with families to extend safety and support beyond the school walls, ensuring our children are protected at home as well.

Her dedication to these international standards ensures that Cedars High School is not just a place of learning, but a sanctuary where every child can thrive—emotionally, psychologically, and physically.

Curriculum Integration

ProtectEd: A Holistic Approach to Safety

At Cedars High School, we have integrated ProtectEd, a leading Canadian program, into our curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 12. This comprehensive program is designed to equip our children with the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe in all aspects of life.

ProtectEd covers a wide range of safety topics, carefully tailored to each age group to ensure age-appropriate learning. From physical safety and personal responsibility to cyber safety and sexual education, the program addresses every dimension of safety that our children may encounter as they grow.
