Elementary Education

A Foundation for Lifelong Learning

Welcome Message

The Elementary Department at Cedars High School is a place where young learners embark on a journey of discovery, growth, and achievement. As Head of the Elementary Department, I am committed to leading a team of passionate educators dedicated to nurturing the academic, social, and emotional well-being of every student.

At Cedars, we believe that education extends beyond the classroom; it is about fostering curiosity, creativity, and character. Through inquiry-based learning and interdisciplinary approaches, we encourage students to explore connections between subjects, think critically, and develop the skills they need to navigate an ever-evolving world with confidence.

Collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Our teachers, students, and families work together to create a thriving, inclusive learning environment where every child feels valued, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.

The dedication and commitment of our educators, combined with the enthusiasm of our students and the support of parents, create an environment where learning is meaningful, and growth is continuous.

Elementary Department Overview

Our Elementary Department caters to students from Grades 1 to 6, typically aged 6 to 12 years old. We provide a structured yet nurturing environment where students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our program fosters effective communication, confidence, and character development while equipping students with essential life skills to support their holistic growth and empower them to become independent, lifelong learners.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Developing Language Fluency: Language is the foundation of effective communication and self-expression. We emphasize fluency in English, Arabic, and French, helping students articulate their thoughts clearly and confidently in both spoken and written forms.
  • Building Confidence and Emotional Maturity: Through social-emotional learning, we help students develop self-awareness, empathy, and resilience. They learn to navigate emotions, build healthy relationships, and approach challenges with a positive mindset.
  • Safety and Well-Being: We educate students on physical, emotional, and digital safety, fostering a secure and supportive environment. Through structured guidance, students develop the knowledge and skills to protect themselves, make informed decisions, and navigate challenges with confidence.
  • Handwriting and Organization: We prioritize the development of legible handwriting and structured organizational skills, guiding students in effectively using agendas to plan and manage their tasks.
  • Autonomy: We actively train students to take responsibility for their learning and daily routines, including packing their bags and managing their homework. This process cultivates self-reliance, accountability, and confidence.

By fostering a well-rounded educational experience, we ensure that students complete their elementary years equipped with the skills, adaptability, and confidence needed for future academic and personal success. Our holistic approach encourages curiosity, resilience, and a sense of responsibility, laying the groundwork for continued growth and achievement in the next stage of their education.

  • STEAM Integration: Through hands-on projects in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics, students engage in inquiry-based learning that promotes problem-solving, creativity, and innovation.
  • Social-Emotional Learning (SEL): Our SEL programs help students develop interpersonal skills, empathy, collaboration, and responsible decision-making, fostering emotional maturity and a strong sense of community.
  • Global Awareness & Multicultural Learning: Students explore diverse cultures, traditions, and global perspectives through engaging activities, stories, and discussions, cultivating respect, empathy, and a sense of global citizenship.

Learning Integration and Real-World Application:
Subjects are interconnected through cross-curricular projects and collaborative activities, fostering meaningful learning experiences that help students recognize the relevance of their knowledge across disciplines. Through an interdisciplinary approach that includes STEAM-based learning, critical thinking, and problem-solving opportunities, students develop the adaptability, confidence, and analytical skills needed to navigate an ever-evolving world.

What We Aim to Achieve

Our goal is to empower students to become confident, curious, and self-reliant individuals. Upon completing their elementary needs, students will:

  • Develop strong foundational skills in core subjects and beyond, ensuring a solid academic base for future learning.
  • Cultivate critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication, equipping them to solve problems and express themselves clearly.
  • Build social-emotional skills such as empathy, collaboration, and self-management, fostering healthy relationships and emotional resilience.
  • Gain a global perspective through multicultural projects and activities, developing an appreciation for diversity and a sense of global citizenship.
  • Learn essential life skills, including time management, organization, and personal responsibility, preparing them for the challenges of middle school and everyday life.

Most importantly, we aim to nurture happy, confident, and independent learners who take ownership of their education and daily routines. By fostering self-reliance and a love for learning, we prepare students not only for middle school but also for a lifetime of curiosity, resilience, and success.
